Ahhh…  The joys of summer…

Kids squealing with delight while running through sprinklers, or jumping into the lake…  Family picnics… Outdoor movies… Concerts and plays… The ice cream truck… Blue skies… Neighborhood barbecues… Smiling faces… Baseball games in the park… Swimming in the ocean… Walking barefoot in the sand… A time to hope and dream…

Nothing evokes the same delight as summer! It seems like there is an emotional “footprint” called “summer,” in each of us. Whether we recall our favorite summer with family, friends, or at a favorite camp, we treasure summer memories like a cherished friend. Even when the sun isn’t actually shining, our summers seem to be more of the good things-sunshine, laughter, sharing, and smiles, and less of the stuff in life that is unpleasant.

In the summertime, local fruits and vegetables are plentiful at local Farmer’s Markets and fruit stands. Peaches are succulent, blueberries are sweet, and tomatoes are juicy. Families and friends gather for outdoor barbecues, share stories about their vacations, latest hiking experience, or best fishing tale. Many summer stories are told around campfires while roasting marshmallows or making s’mores.

Summer seems to bring out the best in each of us. Perhaps it is because we engage our senses so fully in the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of the season. Perhaps it is due to the extra Vitamin D we enjoy from the sunshine. Or the smiles we receive from our neighbors and passers-by. Perhaps it is the extra energy we seem to have due to the extended daylight hours. Whatever the case, most of us have a special reason to love the summer months.

What does summer mean to you? What is your favorite summer story or memory? We’ll pick our three favorite responses to share with the rest of the Coffeehouse Community, and send each of the selected contributors an autographed copy of the New Coffeehouse Investor. We’d love to hear from YOU! Remember, we want you to be engaged in what matters most to you-spending special moments with your favorite people, doing things that make your heart sing-not being concerned about your investment strategy. We can help you with that. In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine…

Happy Monday!
